MAXIPOL Photometer

The figure above shows the geometry of one of the single mode MAXIPOL photometers. High efficiency polarizing wire grids at the entrance aperture of the feedhorns are used to make each photometer sensitive to a single linear polarization. Scattering of radiation from the polarizing wire grid is intercepted by the telescope's cold aperture stop, preventing potential side-lobes.
